Film Series

Allies sponsors four to eight films a year to be shown on campus. All films shown deal with LGBTQ issues or have LGBTQ content. Each film is normally for cultural credit (CEIS), and a lively discussion always follows the film. Information about the selected films and the details of each can be found by clicking on the link below.

Peer-2-Peer Lunches

A major part of Allies is discussion of issues and concerns of the GLBTQ community. Sometimes during the meetings we are unable to address individual concerns or problems. To alleviate this problem, Allies has created Peer-2-Peer Lunches. During these lunches, BSC students can meet discretely with an Allies officer on or off campus to discuss whatever is bothering them. There are seven officers with many different experiences and backgrounds; each are willing to listen and to offer their opinion and stories. Please keep in mind this is a student to student conversation and in no way is a substitute for professional help or counseling. BSC offers great professional help or counseling and are available by appointment.

LGBT History Month

During the 2008 - 2009 school year, the officers of Allies decided to celebrate Coming Out Week, instead of just Coming Out Day (October 11). Coming Out Week was a great success. In order to fully serve the BSC student body, Allies has once again decided to expand Coming Out Week to LGBT History Month, held during the entire month of October. This decision was made to showcase the diversity of sexual and gender identities, to bring light to everyday discrimination of the LGBT community, and to educate the student body about many of the issues and concerns plaguing the LGBT community. The following link includes all of the events, details, and reasons for LGBT History Month.
